Let us not forget that four commercial airliners were hijacked. This included American Airlines Flight 11 scheduled from Boston to LA. Hijackers flew the passengers directly into the North tower killing all passengers and hundreds in the building. People were trapped on floors above the impact, many resorted to jumping to escape the flames. United Airlines Flight 175 also scheduled from Boston to LA was then flown directly into the South tower killing again hundreds and trapping even more. American Airlines Flight 77 scheduled from Dulles to LA was then deliberately flown into the Pentagon killing hundreds. Lastly United Airlines Flight 93 scheduled from Newark to San Francisco was hijacked and then forced into the ground by passengers battling to retake control of the flight. This was most likely intended for another critical target.In total 2,993 people, including the hijackers, died in the attacks. The overwhelming majority of casualties were civilians, including nationals of over 90 countries. A total of 411 emergency workers who responded to the scene died attempting to rescue people and fight fires. This was all done by Islamic extremists who read and take the Koran literally. To my understanding, anyone who truly believes what Mohamed wrote must eventually come to the same conclusions these hijackers came to. They ended up killing nearly 3,000 innocent people who did nothing to provoke them. So the question becomes how do we remain at peace with a people who believe Jihad is the way to heaven?
